On Friday, March 13, 2020, due to concerns regarding the Corona Virus, Leon County Libraries announced that all library branches would be closed until Sunday, March 29, 2020. However, on Saturday, March 14, 2020, they announced that they will offer a special online content and due fee waiver during their closure. While the branches are closed to the public until the end of the month, digital content, such as books and movies, provided by Leon County Libraries, allow the library to function for its visitors in a different capacity.

Library card holders can enjoy “eBooks, audiobooks, and magazines as well as streaming movies with Kanopy,” Leon County Libraries said in a bulletin sent out Saturday, March 14, 2020. “You can also learn to speak a new language with RBdigital or use the databases for access to free online course content and consumer financial information. Library card holders can also access great electronic services such as Learning Express, Universal Class, and Auto Repair Source, just to name a few.”

All due dates on items checked out from the library will be extended, and late fees will be suspended until the libraries open again. While the libraries are closed to the public, librarians will still be available to assist book lovers with reference and technical questions by phone during normal library business hours by calling (850) 606-2665, or via e-mail at AnswerSquad@LeonCountyFL.gov.
